being a week away from the paintbrush feels so unnatural, but this last week's vacation away from the humidity and work life was more than needed. andrew and i spent a week in newport with his lovely family right off the beach. catching seashells every overcast morning and bonzai bowls every lunch is basically my heaven on earth. and don't get me started on the countless fences and walls spilling with wild flowers and succulents the size of my head covering the ground. and obviously disney! bless my husband for his patience and my constant photo taking self. i couldn't have enjoyed this without the amazing brands that contributed to our trip, check out the links above to browse the items we sported all week! california, you have spoiled us...and destroyed our blessed ghostly skin.

  • a breather

mondays seem to hit me like a fat thunderstorm sitting above my head. oddly enough, my job is nothing short of a dream - sometimes, i'm just tired. every now and then, i remind myself of what truly brings me joy: spontaneously doodling. so instead of rushing to my orders first thing at 8am today, i doodled for an hour. in honor of mars in opposition last night, i painted the pretty blue moon from february 2013. i like to paint photos for reference, but not necessarily for exactness. notice my changes in placement and color.

we all need a breather, right? now - back to my fabulous client's orders. y'all keep me alive and pursuing my dreams.

  • little things

    what my weekend consisted of

bundles of peonies (miraculously found in texas), celebrating my floral loving mama, frollicking red-headed babies in braid crowns, eating my weight in pretty, homemade cakes and a night on the town with my love. hope everyone's weekend was just as fabulous.

  • to the mothers

today, we celebrate all you mamas. to my mother, mother-in-law, sisters, relatives and friends, you are glorious and strong. I look up to you.

one important thing my sister and I made sure when prepping the dining room for mothers day, is it needs to look like nature basically blew up in there. if y'all thought I was flower obsessed, you haven't met my mother yet. who do you think I got it from? any way - momma doesn't take traditions lightly, so my sister thought we should take over this holiday tradition for her. every holiday, my mom spends weeks on decorating the dining room table special for the occasion. hope we lived up to your table decorating momma - sorry we butchered your rose bushes to use for decorations (haha) xo!
